His Name is Tyler Durden – The First Rule of Fight Club is…

‘You wake up at Seatac, SFO, LAX. You wake up at O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, BWI. Pacific, mountain, central. Lose an hour, gain an hour. This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time. You wake up at AirHarbor International. If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?’

His name is Tyler Durden, and as if you didn’t know, the movie is ‘Fight Club’, a movie that as Tyler Durden predicted it would, realigned my perspective. Fight Club ranks highly as one of the best movies I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching, and Tyler Durden the infamous Fight Club anti-hero ranks as one of the most influential characters to have shaped my life.
‘I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say let... lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.’

The 8 rules of Fight Club

Based on the novel by ‘ChuckPalahniuk’ Fight club became an instant cult classic and it’s anti-hero Tyler Durden played by Brad Pitt and Edward Norton both, was a character that appealed to an entire sub-culture of the lost, angry and disappointed.
‘We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.’
The first rule of fight club isyou do not talk about fight club. This will probably go down in history as one of the most memorable and repeatedly spoofed movie quotes ever, but there are actually eight rules of Fight Club, and if this is your first time at Fight Club, then it’s important that you familiarize yourself with them all.
The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club! Third rule of Fight Club: if someone yells "stop!", goes limp, or taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule: one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: the fights are bare knuckle. No shirt, no shoes, no weapons. Seventh rule: fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

How to Make Soap like Tyler Durden

‘Now, ancient people found their clothes got cleaner if they washed them at a certain spot in the river. You know why? Human sacrifices were once made on the hills above this river. Bodies burnt, water speeded through the wood ashes to create lye.
the crucial ingredient. The lye combined with the melted fat of the bodies, till a thick white soapy discharge crept into the river…’
TONIGHT WE MAKE SOAP!
Soap and the making of soap formed an essential part of the Fight Club plot, and an integral part of Tyler Durdens character, needless to say that within 24 hours of having watched Fight Club for the first time I’d already visited the local hardware store and purchased a whole bunch of soap making supplies, sauce pan, plastic bowls and moulds, safety goggles, big wooden spoon, several blocks of lard, and of course ‘Lye’.

How to Dress like Tyler Durden

Nobody would deny that Tyler Durden has style:
‘All the ways you wish you could be, that's me. I look like you wanna look, I fuck like you wanna fuck, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not.’
And there are two main items of clothing that stand out as giving Tyler Durden his specific look, the first of which is the much sought out Tyler Durden replica Fight Club Jacket, ten years after the movie was first released replica Tyler Durden vintage red leather jackets are still selling well on auction sites like eBay.
The other item that helped to define Tyler Durdens look was the stylised sunglasses that the character wore, and especially the gun-metal aviator style sunglasses with the red lenses.
The Tyler Durden look wasn’t just about fashion; the look defined the Tyler Durden ideology, part of the cause and the parcel, in the search for rock bottom.
‘In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of RockefellerCenter. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the SearsTower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.’
