In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.'
And now, after twenty-seven years of waiting, one of the greatest mysteries EVER in television history has finally been answered. 'Why is B.A.Barracus afraid of flying?'
And now, after twenty-seven years of waiting, one of the greatest mysteries EVER in television history has finally been answered. 'Why is B.A.Barracus afraid of flying?'
For twenty-seven years we were left wondering, what horrors so terrible could have occurred in Vietnam during B.A.’s soldiering days that they left him, a giant of a man, permanently in fear of flying Or was it simply that B.A. Baracus had always suffered from ‘aerophobia’ in the same way that millions of people who have never flown before are afraid of planes, causing them to suffer anxiety and panic attacks at the mere mention of an aeroplane (or other flying vehicle).
(Please Note) - B.A. Baracus is a fictional character and should not be confused with the very real 'Mr T.' (Born: 'Laurence Tureaud') who is not afraid of flying. A fact that thousands of outraged fans forgot when complaining that Mr T. was shown happily flying in a helicopter in an advertising campaign to promote 'Snickers' chocolate bars.

The New A-Team Movie
Whether you love or loathe the new A-Team movie, especially if you’ve been a fan of the team since way back in 1983, there’s no denying that the new movie does at the very least, attempt to answer some of the great A-Team mysteries from back in the day, such as why is B.A, Baracus afraid of aeroplanes? And why does B.A. feel such animosity towards fellow A-Team member ‘Captain H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock’?
Why B.A. Baracus is Afraid of Flying
Well, according to the 2010 big screen movie release the answer to both of the above questions are very much entwined. Following the rescue of ‘Lieutenant Templeton “Faceman” Peck’ by ‘Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith’ and B.A, Baracus the group team up with Murdock and escape capture by fleeing in an ageing hospital helicopter. However the madness that infects almost every aspect of Murdocks life is not absent when he finds himself at the controls of the chopper, so while there’s no denying that he’s an incredibly gifted pilot, he also flies like the madman that he is.
So while under attack by an enemy chopper and just about to be blown from the sky under missile fire Murdock cuts all power to their helicopters engine, which while having the desired effect of saving the team from being blown to pieces, results in B.A. Baracus being thrown out of the side of the chopper, where clinging frantically with terror in his eyes he is finally pulled back in and saved from almost certain death by Faceman.
Finally explaining both B.A.’s fear of flying and the source of his love/hate relationship with ‘mad’ Murdock.
