Adsense Addict? Suffering From Adsense Addiction? Welcome to Adsense Anonymous

Adsense Anonymous

"Hi, my name is John, and I’m an Adsense-aholic!"
I had my first taste of Adsense about 12 months ago, a good friend of mine was a heavy Adsenser and I guess I just gave in to peer pressure and followed the crowd. We used to go to the pub and play pool together and all he’d ever talk about was Adsense this and Adsense that until finally I just gave in and succumbed. My love of Adsense began with my first dollar, I just couldn’t believe that I was able to make money from writing online; at first it all seemed so easy.
I’d log into my Adsense account every now and then and I wasn’t making very much at first, but soon little by little it began to grow. I’d start connecting to Adsense maybe twice a day at first, you know, just in case, and then maybe three times a day. 15 months ago I had a life, I used to write for the love of it, and I painted, went for walks, and had friends. Soon I began checking my Adsense account every hour on the hour, and then every thirty minutes or so. There was something hypnotising about watching those dollars add up one by one, and then finally after several months I hit that magical target of $100. And after that there was just no going back, the refresh button became my best friend and the bane of my life, at times I could easily refresh my Adsense account sixty times within sixty seconds.
Soon my personal hygiene began to suffer, I began missing meals, work fell apart and finally I lost my job, but I didn’t care because it gave me more time to work on my Adsense earnings.
Hi, my name is Voodoo, and I’m an Adsense addict, it’s been one minute and forty-five seconds since I last checked my Adsense account.

G.A.S.S.

That’s right I’m an Adsense addict, addicted to dollars and cents, or to put it another way I suffer from ‘G.A.S.S’.  No, not trapped wind but G.A.S.S, which is otherwise known as ‘Google Adsense Stats Syndrome’.  Adsense addiction or G.A.S.S is a condition that is recognised by Google itself, the primary sign of affliction is the compulsive need to check your Adsense stats at least every 15 minutes or so.  Adsense addicts suffer strong withdrawal symptoms when separated from a computer with an internet connection and will often employ mobile devices to check their Adsense stats whilst away from their PC.

Tips for the Adsense addict:

Things you must do if you suffer from Adsense addiction:
  • Try to go outside at least once a day
  • Try to schedule certain hours of the day (or days of the week) to check your Adsense stats (and stick to it).
  • Try to reignite an old interest or hobby and spend some time doing other things.
  • Try to spend some time with loved ones and friends (whilst you still have some).
And remember you are not alone, there are thousands of Adsense addicts and G.A.S.S. sufferers around the globe, take it one day at a time, stay strong, and stay away from that refresh button. :)

  1. My names BudBrain, and I'm an Adsense-aholic too.

I check my Adsense around once an hour. I've got better. It used to be once every 15-20minutes.

    Good to meet you.

  2. My name's Amanda and I used to write for pleasure, but the dark-side seduced me and now I write for Adsense Dollars. I know it's futile and that I may never receive my first cheque, but I can't stay away from the keyboard........

  3. Checking one time a day is really the way to go. Sometimes I can almost have a normal life when I do this. I can't believe the amount of work I put into my websites to earn a nickel a day. I've only earned four cents today and I want to cry. The problem is, once in a while I make a couple dollars in a day and it builds a false sense of confidence. Sometimes I wish I lived in the middle ages before there were computers. I hate adsense. I suffer from gas too.

  8. Hi, My name is Heather. I'm an AdSens-aholic! Wow... it feels so good to finally say that out loud! ;) When I'm not checking my AdSense earnings, I'm desperately looking for other people's who have posted their AdSense earnings (hopefully higher than my dollar-a-day) to affirm that my addiction is okay.

  11. To all "Adsense-o-holics"... check out a Wordpress plugin I just made today. It fetches your Adsense data and posts it to your dashboard in a live feed. This way, you can constantly keep tabs on your Adsense data without refreshing a page or without being on Adsense, and that way you can keep posting content while you check up on it. Please let me know if you like it, my plugin is the only Google Adsense Dashboard plugin available that does it's job simply and effectively!
