Kidrobot is arguably the single largest producer and distributor of designer plastic (vinyl) and plush toys. Founded in 2002 by ‘Paul Budnitz’ Kidrobot specialise in the production and retail of artist-created limited edition urban collectibles.


Marketed as adult toys Kidrobots offerings are as much art or sculpture as anything you might find in a museum or exhibition, and many of the rarer pieces can sell for large sums of money. Produced in limited quantities Kidrobot collectibles are designed and imported from around the globe including from countries such as: Japan, Hong Kong and the U.S.
Designer toys and collectibles by Kidrobot may be produced in quantities as low as fifty pieces, and are often designed by world-famous artists. Kidrobots designer urban toys and collectibles are created from a variety of mediums including: plastic, vinyl, plush, latex, cloth, wood and metal.

Dunny
Dunny is a rabbit based figure created from vinyl that features distinctive tubular ears, the name Dunny originated from the early Dunny prototype which was known as the ‘Devil Bunny’.
Munny
Similar to the Dunny but more human in appearance the Munny is usually released as a do-it-yourself alternative to the Dunny, created from vinyl but unlike the Dunny is generally sold undecorated. The Munny is designed to be painted or customised in whatever way desired by the buyer, and an entire sub-culture has arisen around the showing off of home-brew designed Munnys.
Variations of the Munny vinyl toy include: Mini Munny, Mega Munny, Munny zipper pulls, and mini Munny mobile.
Smorkin Labbit’s
Smorkin Labbits were designed and created by world renowned artist ‘Frank Kozik’ before moving into the field of urban toy design Frank Kozik was responsible for creating the iconic artwork and album cover designs used by bands such as: Pearl Jam, Green day, SoundGarden, Beck and The red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Smorkin Labbits are stylised rabbit vinyl sculptures that feature a cigarette protruding from their mouths. Smorkin Labbits are available in a huge variety of custom designed paint jobs, including: Bee Labbit, Clown Labbit and Glow in the Dark Labbit.
Kidrobots designer urban vinyl toys are often released in a blind box which contains a mix of boxed vinyl toys from within a specific series. The blind box contains a mix of common and rarer pieces from each series, the identity of which is only revealed after purchase, this adds to the high value and sought after nature of those rarer Kidrobot pieces.
UglyDolls
Other popular toy ranges available through Kidrobot include the extremely popular and successful ‘UglyDolls’, first released in 2002 the UglyDolls are a range of soft plush designer toys created by independent toy designers ‘David Horvath’ and ‘Sun-Min-Kim’.
‘So cute they’re ugly’ the UglyDolls went main-stream and were awarded the title of ‘Speciality Toy of the Year’ by the Toy Industry of America in 2006.
Each UglyDoll is hand-made and comes with it’s own unique personality, the UglyDoll range includes such characters as: Wage, Big Toe, Ice Bat, Ox and Plunko.

The most recent innovation in the world of designer urban toys is the appearance of ‘Designer consumer electronics’, merging the world of designer toys with that of consumer electronics, custom designed art toys that also function as flash-drives and audio speakers have been released in the form of ‘Mimobot’ and ‘Marka27’.
The latest release in the world of designer consumer electronic toys is the ‘Nabaztag’ which is a Wi-Fi enabled rabbit sculpture capable of connecting to the internet for the browsing of emails and blogs, etc.
