Fake Comments - Increase Online Traffic and Make More Money with HubPages

There are some articles that I write out of interest in the subject matter, or the need to harvest the opinions of others on a specific topic.  And then there are those that I write with no deeper intent than to turn a buck, and to make the time I spend writing at HubPages and elsewhere profitable for me.
There are many tricks you can use to increase the amount of money you make from each and every article you write here at HubPages, and this is just an example of one.
Most of you should be more than aware by now if you're looking to make money online that traffic IS money, because without traffic (visitors) you have nobody who'll buy those products or view those Google Adsense links, and without that (unless you're writing for pleasure) your hub or article is a dead duck, and wasn't worth the time you invested in it.
So your main aim after creating any hub is to increase the number of eyeballs that read it each day, and by doing so increase your chances of making some money from it.  Hubs at HubPages rank relatively well on their own within the major search engines with little to no back-linking (although back-linking obviously helps) but there are always steps you can take to increase traffic levels and drain every last drop of cash making potential from your time spent writing online.
Making Money at HubPages - Writing Fake Comments
This may go against the grain for many hubbers who might consider it underhanded, but it is certainly not a new concept and is not dissimilar from the tactics employed by many forums who might hire posters to 'get-the-ball-rolling' and encourage others to participate in order to build their membership base.

Why write fake comments and not just wait for real comments?
As I said at the beginning this is a tactic I employ solely for sales hubs, like most of you I too enjoy receiving genuine comments to something I've created with a little of my heart and soul put into it.  But for me that's not what a sales hub is, and if you've done your job right a visitor should never make it down to the comments section anyway, but should have left via an affiliate link or ad making you a little cash as they do so.

This technique isn't going to bring in huge amounts of additional traffic, but the additional traffic it does bring from minimal effort will be highly targeted towards your content (and the products you promote).
What should I write in my fake comments?
After your hub has been online for a few weeks or so you should be able to use Google Analytics to see exactly what keywords, phrases and sentences people are typing into Google in order to find your content (assuming that you're already receiving some minimal level of traffic), and this information is pure gold. Because the closer the keywords contained within your content to the exact search terms typed into Google by users the likelier they are to find their way to your hubs. Comments become content and are indexed in the same way as the hub or article itself, as are the keywords or phrases contained within them, essentially becoming an extension of your original article.
So by successfully working the EXACT keywords or sentences (long tail keywords) that people use to find your hubs into a comment you increase your chances of being found for that search term.
All good things in moderation, don't go overboard with this but try to naturally slip in the most commonly searched phrases (that aren't already contained within your article).
e.g. "Where can I buy a 1977 **********?"
Why not just write another hub or article based around these new alternative keywords?
If you consider it worth your time then do so, but if not, this could be the next best thing for increasing targeted online traffic towards your hubs.
Fake comments - right or wrong? - what do you think?

  1. "Comments become content and are indexed in the same way as the hub or article itself, as are the keywords or phrases contained within them" ..I had no idea about that. Hmm, I shall try to use more keywords in hubs I comment on, and then the hubber maybe can spend less time writing fake comments on their hubs. ;) (Really, tho, I didn't know that about comments being indexed. Cool)

  2. An interesting idea. Not one I have tried to date but may well be worth an experiment. Thank you.

  3. Boy have I got lots to learn, I am only realising how hard it is to drive in traffic and try and make some money. Lately I have spent more time reading, trying to learn all the adsen stuff then actually writing. I think all at Hubpages deserves a qualification like a Degree or something, maybe Hubpages should invent a Hubpages lottery that might help some lol

  4. I love the idea, but of course it is based on having any traffic, which I do not except from Hub Pages. Maybe two of my hubs have had outside traffic. I wouldn't know what to say to myself if I did comment on my own hubs. I guess the first step is to write to sell, which I haven't actually tried yet either.

  6. There is another purpose to the fake comments. Add one comment means the search engine spiders have to crawl the content again. comments add to word count as well.

  7. This is indeed interesting, I had known that comments really must be indexed but again the main problem is getting that first few :p
