Audemars Watch – Watches by Audemars Piguet for Collectors and Investors

Audemars Piguet was first registered as a trademark in 1882 and seven years later in 1889 Audemars Piguet opened its first branch in Geneva. The company began to create its own components and assemble its own watches within this factory and quickly became one of the largest (watch producing) employers in Switzerland.

Audemars Piguet was first conceived however back in 1875 with the meeting of ‘Jules-Louise Audemars’ and ‘Edward-Auguste Piguet’ at ‘Valle de Joux’ where they both began working as watchmakers.

In the years between 1894 and 1899 Audemars Piguet produced around 1200 watches and whilst considered a company that produced high prestige watches much of their success came after the deaths of Audemars and Piguet in 1918 and 1919 respectively.

Audemars Piguet as a company acquired numerous high-profile customers such as: ‘Tiffany & Co’, ‘Bulgari’ and ‘Cartier’, who re-branded Audemars Piguet watches under their own house names.

Audemars Piguet became well known as watchmakers for creations such as: the world’s smallest minute repeater, the jumping second hand, the worlds thinnest pocket watch, and the worlds first skeleton watch.

Today Audemars Piguet is considered to be one of the top three luxury Swiss watchmakers along with Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin, and even today every watch produced by Audemars Piguet is manufactured using the same old fashioned hand-made techniques as the first Audemars watches ever produced.

This ‘Audemars Piguet Millenary Le Temps Ovale’, said to be inspired by the Colosseum of Rome features both numbers and numerals on its face, this Audemars watch has a 45mm case in rose or white gold, unique two tone brown and gold dial with roman numerals, exploded seconds track and date at 3:00, it uses the automatic Audemars caliber AP 3120 movement which has 40 jewels and a power reserve of 60 hours and an AP brown stitched exotic strap with AP 18k rose gold deployant buckle.

Case: Platinum with a brushed finish measuring 40 x 11 mm. Sapphire scratch resistant crystal. Signature octagonal bezel with gasket and 8 counter bored white gold nuts and screws securing the case back. The back of this watch is engraved with racing sailboats. Screw-in crown and buttons. Water-resistant to 50 meters.

Dial: gray with A tapestry decoration in the center. Trietium-printed Arabic numerals and white baton hands with tritium coating. The hour counter is decorated with the Alinghi Team logo.

Strap: Special rubber with steel Audemars Piguet logo deployment clasp.
